Keep in mind: they’re not vegan and may not suit those avoiding dairy or animal by-products. For lighter or plant-based alternatives, consider options like Aloha.
The BUILT Bar has more of that dense and chewy traditional protein bar texture. It’s not crumbly or chalky like some bars—it’s coated in real chocolate and has a nougat-like center that feels rich and satisfying. I’ve found that this chewier texture tends to be more filling and holds me over longer between meals.
However, I personally prefer the BUILT Puffs for daily snacking. They have a soft, fluffy, marshmallow-like consistency that’s much easier on the jaw—especially helpful if you deal with TMJ or jaw tension like I do. The lighter texture feels more like a treat and is easier to eat quickly, without all the chewing work.

Personally, I’m a big fan of the Chunk flavors, especially Cookie Dough Chunk and Peanut Butter Chunk. These tend to have little pieces or swirls of extra goodness in them (like real cookie dough bites!), and they feel even more indulgent while still being packed with protein.

While the low sugar content may look appealing, sugar alcohols—especially erythritol—can cause digestive issues for some people. So no, BUILT Bars aren’t a whole food snack, but they can still be a better option than reaching for a candy bar or traditional dessert. If you’re aware of what’s in them and how they make your body feel, they can absolutely fit into a balanced, high-protein lifestyle.
They can—especially if you’re using them as a tool to help hit your protein goals, curb cravings, or swap out higher-calorie snacks and desserts. Each bar contains between 130–180 calories and has 15–19 grams of protein, depending on the flavor.
From a macro perspective (macronutrients = carbs, protein, fats), BUILT Bars are actually quite balanced. The protein content is solid, and they’re relatively low in fat and carbs compared to other options. If you’re tracking macros or working with a coach, these can easily fit into most meal plans.
