1. Choose the Right Hairstyles for Working Out
How you secure your hair before you even start moving matters more than you realize. Most of us default to a tight, high ponytail to keep hair out of our face. Unfortunately, this is one of the biggest contributors to breakage and tension along the hairline.
I’m personally a high bun or low braid girl, especially during Pilates. Since I spend so much time lying on my back, a traditional ponytail can actually get in the way and feel uncomfortable against the mat or reformer carriage. A high bun keeps hair off my neck, while a low braid stays flat and secure without pulling.
Loose braids, low buns, or soft twists are great low-tension options. If you’re doing higher-impact workouts, a French braid works well because it distributes weight across the scalp instead of pulling from one spot.
